Community Scholarship Foundation of Canon-McMillan
Dollars For Scholars
A Program of Schlolarship of America
Dear Business Owner,
The Community Scholarship Foundation of Canon-McMillan, Dollars for Scholars is a locally
operated and supported non-profit, tax exempt scholarship foundation with a tax ID (46-5118613) that has
been in existence for 32 years. Operated by an all-volunteer Board of Directors, its purpose is to expand
access to educational opportunities by involving and assisting our community in the support of students and
in the encouragement of educational achievement. The foundation is a chapter affiliate of Scholarship
America, a nationally recognized non-profit student aid service organization. The chapter's initial place of
business is Canon-McMillan Senior High School 314 Elm Street Extension Canonsburg, PA 15317. Each
year our community is invited to demonstrate their support for local students by supporting our fundraising
activities, sponsoring scholarships and generous monetary support of local businesses, service
organizations and individuals or groups.
For the past 18 years the foundation has sponsored a Jack-O-Lantern Jog 5K Run and Skeleton
Stroll. This is a family oriented event with costumes, awards, basket raffle, food and a lot of fun. This is our
biggest fundraiser. The event has continued because of the support of local businesses,
individuals, families and group donations and those who participate in the event. Over 100 or more individuals,
young and old, do participate in this event. Products donated are used as participant prizes and/or basket
raffle prizes. Monetary donations of less than $500 are combined to form scholarships. Donations over $500,
$1,000 or more will be presented in your name at the annual scholarship banquet in May. Last year the
foundation awarded over $60,000 in scholarships to graduating Canon-McMillan students.
This year the Jog will be held on the LAST Saturday of October, 2023. We are excited to be holding the jog
once again at the Canon-McMillan Senior High School on Elm Street Ext., Canonsburg, PA. The 5K race
will begin at 9:00 a.m. and the Skeleton Stroll at 9:15 a.m. We will have plenty of parking and a larger area
indoors prior to the start of the race for runners, spectators and sponsors. All attendees will have plenty of
opportunity to purchase and deposit their tickets for the Raffle Basket and 50/50 drawing. Additional tickets
(25 tickets for $10.00 or 75 tickets for $20.00) can be purchased at the event, but must be deposited by
9:15 a.m.
You can show your support one of three ways: a Corporate Sponsorship, a Personal or Group
Sponsorship, and Product and/or Raffle Basket donation. Kindly take a few minutes to review the enclosed
information and consider making a donation. No donation is too small and every donation helps.
Thank you in advance for your consideration of this worthwhile event. Any questions should be
directed to email cmjackolanternjog@gmail.com
Yours truly,
The Jack O Lantern Jog Committee
